POSITION SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Applicants must have proof of completion of a recognized Personal Support Worker Certificate Program. An efficient team worker, able to relate effectively to residents, visitors, co-workers and supervisors with dignity, respect and compassion. Dependable, punctual, trustworthy, and available to work a variety of shifts including evenings, nights and weekends.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Participate in the overall activation process promoting the highest level of physical, social and emotional well-being and lifestyle chosen by the resident.

 
2. Communicate satisfactorily with co-workers and residents.

 
3. Observe and report changes in resident’s physical, emotional, social conditions and abilities; documents changes and care given.

 
4. Cooperate with staff of all departments as a team player; demonstrate responsibility for provision of quality care.

 
5. Perform tasks to the highest standard for which the PSW has been prepared by her/his education and ongoing training at Saint Luke’s Place.

 
6. Observe and report to the Team Leader or Charge Nurse concerns about unsafe conditions, equipment or practices of fellow staff members.

 
7. Know the fire emergency procedures and required response.

 
8. Respect the right and need for privacy, independence, integrity and friendship of residents.

 
9. Exercise care in use of Saint Luke’s Place equipment and residents’ belongings.

 
10. Participate in team meetings, attend in-service education.

 
11. Be regular and punctual in attendance at work; complete assigned tasks and duties in a timely manner.

 
12. Observe and work within the guidelines of the Health & Safety Program, including proper reporting of accidents and participation in Early & Safe Return to Work plans (WSIA)

POSITION SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES
 

Responsible for all duties assigned in relation to the safety and sanitation of the food served and the presentation and delivery of appropriate diet to each resident. Above must be in compliance with Canada’s Food Guide, current Manual of Clinical Dieticians and Ministry of Health Standards. An efficient team worker, able to relate effectively to residents, visitors, co-workers and supervisors with dignity, respect and compassion. Dependable, punctual, trustworthy,and employee must be willing to work a variety of shifts, weekends, holidays and be available for call-ins.
 

QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS
 
• Grade 12 diploma.

 
• Food Safety Awareness program Certificate (Public Health).

 
• Food Service Workers Course recommended.

 
• Must be physically able to stand and walk short distances, bend and lift, use and handle kitchen equipment and work at a fast pace.

 
• Must be able to handle the mental stress of a fast paced environment while exhibiting a "team" attitude, patience and understanding.
 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist in the provision of a high quality Food Service Department.

 
2. Assist in the portioning and serving of food items to the residents appropriate to their diet orders.

 
3. Encourage optimum nutritional intake by the residents by providing pleasant and efficient table service and encouragement where required. Report poor appetite level to the Director of Support Services.

 
4. Ensure safe food handling and storage procedures are followed and that equipment is cleaned according to established procedures.

 
5. Participate in Resident Care Reviews, in-service sessions and staff meetings.

 
6. Assist in the set up, delivery and service of food for functions/programs in the Home.

 
7. Ask residents for comments regarding food preferences and meal satisfaction; and report information to the Director of Support Services.

 
8. Report unsafe equipment, conditions and unsafe acts witnessed.

 
9. Know and be able to carry out fire emergency response.

 
10. Observes and works within the guidelines of the H&S Program, including use of personal Protective Equipment, proper reporting of accidents and participation in ESRTW plans (OHSA/WSIA).

POSITION SUMMARY
 

Performs Laundry Aide duties in accordance with established departmental policies, procedures, methods and routines and in compliance with Infection Control Guidelines, Health and Safety, WHMIS and pertinent legislation.
 

REQUIREMENTS
 
• Grade 10 education preferred.

 
• Previous experience with commercial laundry equipment in an institutional setting an asset.

 
• Ability to mend and sew by hand or electric sewing machine.

 
• Fluency in written and spoken English.

 
• Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
 
• Familiarity with equipment utilized typically in a laundry environment.

 

• Physically able to handle all aspects of the job - walking, standing, lifting, pushing and pulling.

 

• Dependable, trustworthy, punctual (part time staff must be flexible for call-in).

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Process facility linens and residents’ personal clothing according to the methods defined in the Policy and Procedure manual.

2. Mend, label and alter linens and personal clothing at the Sewing Centre.

3. Maintain daily records in accordance with the current procedures on forms provided, i.e.
- linens removed,
- items mended with time frames,
- record in the communication book information required to be communicated to co-workers.

4. Soiled linen pick up (from specific utility rooms).

5. Sort all soiled linen and residents’ personal clothing.

6. Wash, dry and sort all general linen and residents’ personal clothing.
Deliver all residents personal clothing.

7. Load linen carts and deliver to user areas according to set up quotas and schedules.
Waste removal daily.

8. Daily cleaning of lint traps.

9. Keep work areas safe, clean and tidy.

10.Perform all duties in a safe and healthy manner.

11.Report unsafe conditions and equipment.

12.Wear personal protective equipment provided by the Employer.
Observe infection control guidelines.

13.Maintain confidentiality and be respectful of the belongings of residents/tenants and co-workers.

14.Participate in staff meetings, in-service education and training sessions.

15.Learn and practice department policies and procedures and fire safety and disaster procedures specific to the Laundry Department.

16.Promotes teamwork as an active member of the team and develops good working relationships with residents, tenants and volunteers.

17.Observes and works within the guidelines of the Health & Safety Program, including proper reporting of accidents and participation in ESRTW plans (WSIA).
