Funding for 192 New Long-Term Care Beds
Cambridge, ON (May 5, 2025) – Saint Luke’s Place’s relaunched Welcome Home Campaign, spearheaded by the Campaign Cabinet, will provide funding for 192 new long-term care beds. This will grow our community’s long-term care capacity and reduce wait times for our vulnerable seniors now and in the future.
Led by Saint Luke’s Place, this visionary $94 million project is aimed at advancing long-term care in Cambridge. The Welcome Home Campaign will be directed by a dedicated cabinet of local business leaders passionate about making a difference in our community. “Investing in the future of long-term care is not just about infrastructure- it is about providing a safe and supportive environment, placements in a timely manner, and building a stronger community. This project ensures our seniors receive the quality care they deserve while making a meaningful impact across our region,” stated Ronnie Pfeffer, Campaign Cabinet Honourary Chair.
As a nonprofit organization, we are raising funds to harness cutting-edge design that meets the complex needs of our residents, utilize our clinical expertise to improve quality of life, and demonstrate our commitment to health equity. We are breaking down the barriers that prevent too many families from accessing long-term care when it is needed for their loved ones.
The cabinet will focus on fundraising efforts, community engagement, and awareness initiatives, leveraging their networks to gather support for the campaign. They will work tirelessly to promote the mission of creating a compassionate and supportive environment for seniors and facilitate dialogue about the need for long-term care in Ontario.
Driven by ambition, this project emphasizes Saint Luke’s Place’s moment to be visionary while taking “purposeful action” to shape long-term care in the community. “Saint Luke’s Place has always stood for dignity, compassion, and community, and this project is our opportunity to build on that legacy. By investing in long-term care now, we’re not only supporting the seniors of today, but creating a foundation of care for generations to come,” shared Chris Ackie, Campaign Cabinet Honourary Chair.
The capital campaign goal of $12 million serves as a reminder of and a tribute to Saint Luke’s Place’s roots. Founded in 1972 by impactful community members who have left their original mark on our community, Saint Luke’s Place is built on the belief that every senior deserves access to the best possible long-term care options when needed.
“Thanks to the generosity of more than 700 alumni and donors, we have already built incredible momentum with $ 2 million raised,” Amy Ross, Director of Fundraising shares. “Their support is making a lasting impact, and I know the Cambridge community will continue to rise to the occasion.”
By harnessing their collective influence and commitment to social responsibility, this cabinet will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the Welcome Home Campaign exceeds its fundraising goals and ultimately provides a warm, welcoming place for seniors in our community to thrive.
Together, they will help transform this vision into a meaningful reality. For a list of all dedicated cabinet members, please visit//saintlukesplace.ca/welcomehome
