Searching for new Volunteer Board and Board Sub-Committee Members
Becoming a board or board committee member at Saint Luke’s Place means using your talents to ensure dignity, quality care, and community for seniors – now and for generations to come. It can be a deeply meaningful and strategic way to give back to the community.
Serving on the Saint Luke’s Place Board and Committees provides opportunity to:
- Make a tangible difference in the lives of seniors – You help shape decisions that directly affect the quality of life of residents.
- Guide the organization’s mission and future – You help set the strategic direction for the organization, with a voice in long-term planning and sustainability, financial stewardship, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
- Give back to the community – You have the opportunity to strengthen community ties and ensure local seniors have access to excellent care and housing.
- Use your skills for good – Your professional knowledge can make a big impact, whether you bring expertise in finance, healthcare, law, governance, human resources, or fundraising.
- Grow personally and professionally – Your service on the board offers valuable leadership experience while you learn about governance, healthcare operations, and non-profit management; network with community leaders and professionals; and build your reputation as a community-minded leader.
Time Commitment:
Saint Luke’s Place board meetings are held one evening per month (except in July and August). In addition to attending meetings of the Board, Directors are requested to be a member of one of the standing committees of the Board. Committees of the Board usually meet monthly on a weekday morning or during the lunch hour. In total, Directors commit approximately four-five hours per month to governance activities.
About Saint Luke’s Place:
Established in 1976, Saint Luke’s Place is a Charitable, Non-Profit, Accredited Long-Term Care Home and Seniors’ Community that became a reality as the result of a desire to serve seniors in the Cambridge area. We gratefully acknowledge our roots as a visionary outreach project by our community for our community.
Saint Luke’s Place currently consists of 114 long-term care beds, 132 apartments for seniors, a Seniors Active Living Centre, and other services. We are situated on seven acres with a beautifully landscaped accessible pathway encircling our facility. We are in the midst of a $90 million project that will provide 192 new long-term care beds to serve our community.
As a charitable, non-profit, non-denominational organization, we celebrate diversity and we welcome everyone. We ask those interested to please submit a letter of interest and resume to ea@stlp.ca to be reviewed and approved by the Board.
