Incorporated under the Charitable Institutions Act in 1974, Saint Luke’s Place is a Charitable, Non-Profit seniors’ residential facility located in Cambridge, Ontario. Saint Luke’s Place first opened its doors in 1976. We offer care and services to our Long-Term Care residents, and to the tenants in our Independent Apartments. We are also an active member of AdvantAge Ontario.

We offer basic rooms, semi-private rooms, and private rooms in any one of our four resident home areas, including one special care unit. We offer the best quality of care to our residents, in a comfortable, safe and clean home environment. In total Saint Luke’s Place is licensed to operate 114 Long-Term Care beds, 4 of which are designated as Veterans Priority Access beds. We also have a dedicated infirmary and palliative care room. Saint Luke’s Place Long-Term Care is accredited; accreditation signals our commitment to continually improving the quality of services, encouraging feedback and serving the community.

At Saint Luke’s Place, we offer quality nursing care to support our residents with their activities of daily living and clinical care needs. Our Medical Director, Home Physician team, and after-hours service ensures that physician care coverage for our residents is available 24 hours a day.

Dietary staff prepare meals on site and serve 3 meals and 3 snacks per day, 7 days a week. Our nutrition manager and registered dietitian oversee a tasty and nutritious variety of choices from our menus, which also consider any special dietary needs of our residents.

Housekeeping, Laundry, and Maintenance staff ensure that our facilities and resident home areas are safe, clean, and comfortable.

Long-term care homes are publicly funded and operated by licensees, such as Saint Luke’s Place, which provide health care and services to people whose needs cannot be met in the community.

Long-term care homes are licensed and regulated by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. The province has specific laws and regulations for admission to long-term care homes that are designed to ensure fairness and equity in the system, so that it can serve the needs of people with greater care needs as well as people who are still independent.

Although the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care pays for the provision of care in Long-Term Care Homes, you are responsible for accommodation costs, which are standard across Ontario. Rates are typically reviewed annually by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
